Abraham At Moriah
by David Lazarus

To be blessed by El Elyon Kone Shamim and Aretz is to know that there is a meaning and purpose in every situation in life. It is to know that my life has value and that meaning. Who I am and what happens to me in life is determined by a loving God.

It is to know that whatever situation you might be facing right now in your life, there is some purpose in it. There is something God wants you to learn. Something he wants you to do.

Looking at a situation by faith or living by faith means knowing the character and nature of God, how he would think about and deal with the situation, and doing what God would have us do in that situation.

It is faith that believes in God no matter what the circumstance are.

Abraham’s faith was not that certain things would happen.

It was in God’s Character, who he is.

So when this King of Sodom now comes to Abraham and offers him to “keep the goods for yourself,” Abraham replies:

14:22-23 “I have raised my hands to the Lord, El Elyon, Creator “Konne” of heaven and earth, and have taken an oath that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of your sandal, so that you will never be able to say, ‘I made Abram rich.’”

Abraham could have easily thought, “This is the reward for what I have done rescuing Lot and getting all the people back for King of Sodom.”

But he wanted more than riches; he wanted his life to have meaning for El Elyon. Meaning and purpose greater than just the circumstances.

Gen. 15:1 “Reward” payment

Gen. 15:5-6

The same God who you have understood now is the designer of all the world and all that is in it who has made everything perfect, even as he made the stars so he will be able to fulfill the promises that he has made to you.

It was on the basis of Abraham’s faith, faith in El Elyon Kone Shamaim and Aretz, that God was glad to give him wonderful promises;

“Abram believed in the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness” (15:6).

15:17-18

Gen. 17: 1-8

“El Shadai” Sufficient One.

New name for Abraham

Circumcision , a permanent mark on his body signifying “I am servant of El Elyon, Most High God.”

At the end of his life, and old man 99 years old, lives in the reality that God is El Shadai.

Learned to be content with situation in life.

He had learned to trust everything to God, and now he has the reward.

He was willing to see the Sovereign hand of God even in the most difficult situations.

He want what He has for me. I live for His will in my life. No matter what that might be. It could be poverty. It could be riches.

Gen. 22: 1-18 “akidat Yizkak”
